Asking your elected officials to consider supporting the Honest Deal Act and enlisting your friends to do the same are the essentials in the short run. As elections come around, it would be good to also ask candidates running for office to take the Honest Deal Pledge. For those who want to devote more time to the cause, you can work for passage of analogs of the Honest Deal Act at the state and local levels. Success at these levels, as chapter 9 shows, could help precipitate action at the federal level. People who would like to develop such state and local analogs will find help at the proceeding link. Those who would like to work to stop the tricks at any level of government might also find support from the many private nonprofit organizations that advocate for an open, accountable government.
